![]() Am I Transgender? ![]() Transgender is a term used to describe anyone who bends or challenges traditional gender roles. Youth First Texas has a transgender group that meets twice a month. We also have transgender volunteers who can assist. Until and if you feel comfortable coming in, here are some definitions and online resources that can help.
Transgender Definitions: ![]() Transsexuals:
People who are unhappy in the gender to which they are assigned at birth and change their gender roles and bodies in order to live as members of the "other" sex. Crossdressers: Wear the clothing of the other sex on occasion but do not wish to change their sex. Drag Kings and Drag Queens: Dress up and present images of men and women for entertainment or self gratification. Androgynes or Gender Benders: Merge the characteristics of both sexes and are hard for most people to depict which sex they are by appearance. Intersexed (hermaphroditic): Persons are born with genitals which show characteristics of both sexes. Many are given surgery in infancy. Additional Resources: ![]()
